GroundWork Monitor 8.6.1

This page outlines the system requirements for GroundWork Monitor Enterprise version 8.6.1.

Hardware

Resources assigned to the operating system running GroundWork Monitor should be dedicated resources reserved for that operating system, and if possible, dedicated hardware is recommended.

GroundWork Monitor Enterprise requires the following bare minimum environment specification for correct operation:

  • 4 cores CPU
  • 16GB of RAM
    • Running embedded Elastic Stack (Container names: elastic, logstash, kibana, curator) is not recommended at 16GB
  • 200GB Disk Space
    • It is recommended to have at least 40GB disk space in the current working directory for the download.
    • It is recommended to have at least 200GB disk space assigned to the partition that contains the /var/lib/docker path, the location for the GroundWork Monitor 8 installation.
    • /tmp partition with at least 20GB
    • /tmp partition mounted RW

The recommended minimums for production use are as follows:

  • 4 cores CPU
  • 32GB of RAM
  • 1TB Disk Space
    • It is recommended to have at least 40GB disk space in the current working directory for the download.
    • It is recommended to have at least 800GB disk space assigned to the partition that contains the /var/lib/docker path, the location for the GroundWork Monitor 8 installation.
    • /tmp partition with at least 40GB
    • /tmp partition mounted RW

Software

GroundWork runs on Linux with Docker CE and Docker Compose installed. This section provide links to the Docker install documents for platform specific instructions for your installation path.

  • Docker CE: Version 20.10.13 or higher supported.
  • Docker Compose: Version 1.27.4, or higher

Operating System

GroundWork Monitor has been tested with the following versions of Linux:

  • Ubuntu 20.04 (recommended)
  • Amazon Linux 2
  • CentOS 7.5
  • CentOS 8
  • Red Hat 7.5
  • Red Hat 8 (includes 8.8, 8.9)
  • Rocky Linux 8
  • SLES 15

As of this writing, SLES 15 SP2 and SP3 can only run Docker engine 19.x, not 20.x as recommended (unless you run IBM 390 hardware). Use of SLES is therefore not ideal, though it is supported.

Browser

This version of GroundWork Monitor has been tested with the latest versions of Firefox and Google Chrome. Chrome is recommended. Safari and Internet Explorer are not supported.
