GroundWork Monitor Enterprise Edition | Version 8.6.1 | 2023/04/04
In GroundWork 8.6.0, a flexible and secure reporting functionality has been added. It is now possible to generate reporting data for export in CSV format. This provides a high level of flexibility when building a full reporting solution. It is also possible to customize and formulate new report formats via SQL queries. This simple but powerful report editor and wizard can be found in the Reports menu. For further documentation, please see GroundWork Reports. UI changes have been made to minimize load and increase usability in cases where a single host has many services. Minimum Docker version for GroundWork 8.5.2/8.6.1 is 20.10.13. If you installed Docker using recommended install steps, a system update should be all that is necessary to achieve this.
- Added GroundWork Reports.
- Updated container base images.
- Implemented manual page navigation for large service counts.
- Status dashboard bugs relating to service groups and ticketing.
- Over-use of tokens by GroundWork messenger.
Known Issues and Limitations
This section lists any known issues and limitations with work-arounds.
The existence of Nagios contact templates which contain only the deprecated NoMa methods will put Nagios control dashboards into a state where commits are not possible.
Deleting any templates which cause this issue will restore ability to commit. References to these contact templates should optionally be changed.
It's possible to overload the Nagios instance in GroundWork. Nagios uses workers that communicate with the services it runs. In some cases the default provisioning isn't enough to keep up with a really active alert stream.
You can override the default provisioning of workers in Nagios with the check_workers directive. See How to configure check_workers.
TCG-SNMP restart generates unknown status
When restarting the (new) TCG-SNMP connector, the initial poll may generate UNKNOWN status for the network interfaces.
We recommend adjusting the notification rules for this to avoid alarm fatigue.
Cron-Controlled GroundWork containers generate SUSPENDED alerts
Jobs scheduled VIA the cron container generate SUSPENDED alerts. This is correct behavior, but may cause unwanted alarms.
We recommend adjusting the notification rules for this to avoid alarm fatigue. A separate rule for the DOCK-H:cadvisor group with a 1-minute delay can suppress these alarms.
Archive Migration initially incomplete
Upgrades to the system will migrate the foundation database but will not completely migrate the archive database until the first archive run (overnight in the cron timezone)
This may affect any queries you want to run against the archive database, especially those for host address values, but only for the day of upgrade.
|Legacy NRPE check deprecated.||This plugin should have already been replaced by check_nrpe plugin. Plugin check_nrpe_legacy is no longer included by default.||Use of this plugin will require manually maintaining it in your nagios libexec directory.|
